On August 4, 1995 about 250,000 Serbian residents fled their homes in
Krajina to escape all-out attack by the Croatian army. The Croats, led by
officially retired US officers employed by the US military subcontracting
group, MPRI, attacked the civilian population all-out, complete with
artillery bombardment and strafing from the air. With the Ustashi dream of
a Serb-free Croatia realized, three years later Pope John Paul II praised
what he called Croatia's commitment to peace and multiethnic unity...
