"We, the employees of ZASTAVA made a live shield of 8,240 men at 2 p.m. local time yesterday. "
So wrote the workers of the biggest car factory in Yugoslavia on March 27, 1999 as they occupied their plant. They sent emails to Albright and other NATO leaders in the belief that NATO would never knowingly bomb human beings.
- "Therefore we want you to know that the attack on our factory shall mean death of men and an enormous spiritual and material loss to their families. "
The workers concluded by reminding NATO leaders and the conscious citizens of NATO countries that there are enlightened traditions of civilization dating back to the ancient Assyrians, Chinese and Indians.
On April 9th NATO bombed the plant.

Day of horror, day of hope
Just over one year ago, NATO did the unthinkable: it launched a murderous and unbelievably cowardly onslaught - countries with over 700 million inhabitants bullying a small, brave nation. The US and Germany wanted - and failed to - bring Yugoslavia to its knees. And because they failed, because the Yugoslav people refused to crawl, a movement is afoot to resist the so-called New World Order.We hear from: an honest media analyst in London, where it is a crime to be honest; a poet from Nish, Yugoslavia, a gorgeous city where it is dangerous to walk outside; a stadium concentration camp that wasn't; a venerable Serbian organization in Canada which addresses madness with dignity; a man from America, where some dare call it racism; and a fighter pilot and the workers in a Yugoslav auto plant, voices of a people who have been bombed but not into submission.

'But does it matter?'

Here's international political analyst Diana Johnstone on the Libel conviction of LM magazine:
- "A huge British television enterprise, ITN, has succeeded in bankrupting a small leftist magazine for publishing a simple, but little-known FACT: that an ITN photo team set up a photo of [Bosnian Serb] Trnopolje transit camp to look like a concentration camp by taking pictures of refugees, one of them extremely thin, through some barbed wire they found at the edge of the camp. This is the fact. It was not refuted. It was not even challenged. Instead, the photo journalist said her feelings were hurt. And a witness said bad things happened at the camp... true or not, but irrelevant to the FACT of the disputed article.
Nevertheless, a British jury called this "libel" and imposed a staggering huge fine. Are these the new Western "values"? Truth is clearly not among them." -DJor more, see the articles below:

A grim miscarriage of justice has just occurred in Britain.Living Marxism, the iconoclastic magazine edited by Mike Hume, was just found guilty of libel against ITN, the big British news station. The case is very important. The Living Marxism people have been ordered to pay over $500 000, US. This constitutes an attempt to ruin these brave journalists for doing their job. To destroy them for exposing the lies of powerful interests, the doctored pictures that ITN presented, false evidence of a Bosnian Serb death camp.
In The Tears of the Mighty emperors-clothes editor Jared Israel comments on the ITN hoax and the amazing coverage put out by Reuters on the libel trial. Also posted: a defiant statement by Mike Hume, editor of Living Marxism, 'English Libel law, a Disgrace to Democracy' . The (London) Sunday Times has confirmed our charges that the OSCE Verification Mission in Kosovo for 6 months prior to the bombing of Yugoslavia was a phony. As we charged, it was a cover for the CIA to set up liaison with the KLA and to spy on Yugoslavia. William Walker was indeed creating another death squad operation - just like the ones he set up in El Salvador. Dyncorps, which supplied the 'verifiers', is indeed a 'Company' company. The US horror-show government has made fools of the 'honest broker' Euro leaders - that is, if there are any honest Euro leaders. The Cat's Outta the Bag! and NATO must get out of Kosovo - NOW! How will you plead at the trial, Mr.Annan? (3-12-00)
The London Observer's summary of a non-public report on the Kosovo situation to Kofi Annan merely confirms what the anti-war movement has been saying for months. But now we have proof: UN leaders KNOW what they created in Kosovo. The UN report admits everything but the name, Fascism. Kofi Annan is, by virtue of receiving this report and not firing Bernard Kouchner, head of his Kosovo operation, an accomplice to fascist terror. Period. When Anan is put on trial for abetting monstrous crimes against all ethnic minorities in Kosovo will he plead that he was only following U.S. orders? How will you plead, Mr. Annan?War crimes - or faked 'news'?

IF you are old, you may recall - was it the Pogo cartoon strip that coined the phrase, "We have met the enemy and they are us?" Well, that is precisely how much of the world now feels, but about the U.S., and not without cause.
- There was the totally unprovoked US bombing of a critically needed Sudanese medicine factory in August, 1998, justified by open lies and open arrogance of power. (See Credible Deception ).
- There are the continuous threats against and bombing of Iraq (amazingly justified by citing the danger Iraq poses to its neighbors, as if she were doing the bombing).
- There is the assault on Yugoslavia including sponsorship of terrorist forces, and all this justified by fabricating false stories of genocide ( see Spanish Experts Shoot NATO in its Logic).
We could go on. The world is thinking: "They lie and then they bomb - and then they lie again." And the world is scared. Mercifully the U.S. media spares Americans any knowledge of what the rest of the world is thinking - and saying. Check out Mr. Ahmad's very angry article.

Occupied Kosovo could be a nightmare world except it's real. And in this world of US Imperial creation, drug dealing terrorists are the economy's guarantors. The Rambouillet Agreement (sic!) stipulated that:
- The economy of Kosovo shall function in accordance with free market principles. (Article I, Chapter 4a )
and so it will, with the KLA to make sure the loans get repaid on time. And don't write off the lucrative heroin trade. That's business too. Opening up
