Emperor's Clothes Articles on US strategy towards Iraq and Iran

A Guide

[ Last Updated 2 April 2006 ]

=====================================================

The impression one gets from the media is that the Bush administration is a) ideologically committed to imposing Western secular government on Iraq and then perhaps Iran and b) that the Bush administration's policies are entirely different from those of its predecessors, especially Clinton.  Our research challenges these conclusions.

**Table of Contents**

(1) The war in Iraq, especially the real relationship of the US and Iran, now and in recent years.

(2) Indications that the real strategy behind the seeming war on terror is the creation of a continuous line of Islamist states from Saudi Arabia to the former Soviet Central Asian republics. The role of Zbigniew Brzezinski and his protégé,  Zalmay Khalilzad. Does the US establishment have a hostile attitude towards Islam, as many believe? Or does it view Islam as a tool to make the world inhospitable for forces that might seriously challenge domination by the US establishment and its partners?

* Zalmay Khalilzad
Special envoy for Islamic Terror
Compiled with Comments by Jared Israel
[Posted 1 March 2003]

[What it's about: We have two articles on Khalilzad, one above this text and one right below. Khalilzad is special assistant to President Bush and senior director at the National Security Council for the Persian Gulf, southwest Asia and other issues in the region, and special envoy to Iraq and Afghanistan and now also Ambassador to Afghanistan. He has not yet taken the title, Czar of all the Russias, but he has it in mind.  He's a key planner behind US policy, both in Afghanistan and Iraq. He shares many ideas with the notorious Mr. Brzezinski. Khalilzad's special interest is the political uses of Islamist terror. The AP says about him: "In the winter of 2000, before he was appointed to the NSC, he outlined his recommendations for U.S. policy goals in Afghanistan in an article published by The Washington Quarterly. Many of his ideas later materialized as policy as Bush began the war on terrorism." --Associated Press; September 22, 2003 Monday; Section: Washington Dateline; Headline: Bush Picks Ambassador To Afghanistan; Dateline: Washington.]

* U.S. & Iran: Enemies in Public, but Secret Allies in Terror: The US and Iran have long cooperated to sponsor Islamist terrorism
By Jared Israel
[Posted 13 April 2003]

[What it's about: Despite a public appearance of acrimony, the US and Iran have cooperated in sponsoring Islamist terrorists. Perhaps the best example is what they did together to Yugoslavia. Why the mutual public denunciation, then? Because it's good theater, and Muslims are watching. Iran accuses the US of doing anything and everything for Israel, a message calculated to incite Muslim audiences around the world and increase the strength of Muslim extremism, which both the US and Iran foster for geopolitical ends.]

* Top Legal Advisory Group Pushes for Muslim Religious Law all over... And the news gets suppressed in the West!
by Jared Israel
[Posted 26 May 2003]

[What it's about: At a curiously unpublicized meeting of the IDLO, the top international group which molds legal systems in the "developing countries," the US, Iran, various Western powers and a host of pro-Islamist scholars worked out details for an Islamist legal system in Afghanistan. Notably absent were any secular Afghan scholars and legal specialists. Many thousands of secular  Afghans were driven into exile when the Islamists, sponsored by the US and Saudi Arabia, took over their country during the 1980s.

The IDLO's leader endorsed the imposition of Muslim religious law throughout the "developing world". What is going on?  Aren't the US and Iran supposed to be enemies? Why are they jointly planning Afghanistan's Islamist future?   And doesn't the US claim to oppose the creation of Islamist states? This is a crucial document for understanding our world.]

If the US is trying to fight Islamist terror, how come the US has been shipping millions of Islamist textbooks into Afghanistan for 20 plus years? And why is Bush lying about it?
